for LAB Regional
Director

JOHN ALLEN'S CAMPAIGN --
Short campaign statement
for club newsletters and e-mail lists

Hello, I am John S. Allen, candidate for League of American Bicyclists Regional Director in the New York-New England region. I ask that you consider voting for me.

I have had a long career as a bicycling activist, and as the author of several bicycling books, numerous magazine articles and the pamphlet Bicycling Street Smarts, which has been adopted by two states as their official bicycle drivers' manual.

My reasons for running are as follows:

  • I want there to be an electoral contest, so that issues get aired before the membership.

  • I will be a Director for the entire region, and I will maintain contact with clubs and League Cycling Instructors.

  • I have some serious concerns about the direction of the League's policies and about its member services. I am especially concerned about the quality of the 2002 LCI Instructor's Manual, and as LCI and Regional Director, I will address this issue.

I have posted a detailed platform statement on the Internet at http://www.bikexprt.com/LAB. If you have any questions, or wish to help me with my campaign, please contact me:
